Our Process

Our design process begins with an in-depth conversation in which we invest ourselves in understanding each client’s unique vision for the project. Through close collaboration we develop design concepts that align, balance, and reconcile the realities of the site, program, and budget throughout the design and construction process.

  • During this phase, we’ll work closely with you to fully understand the project parameters and your aesthetic preferences, laying the groundwork for the entire design process. Together we’ll develop a broad-brush design concept that’s considerate of your project’s unique site context, goals, and constraints. By balancing things like wants, needs, and preferences with the realities of code requirements, budget, and schedule we strive to develop an initial design concept that is not only well designed, but also well rounded, thoughtful, and realistic in its approach.

  • Building on our collective work from the previous design phase, we will continue to develop and refine the conceptual design that was produced during Phase 1. During Phase 2, we begin focusing much more on the details of the interior and exterior architecture and will start defining the project’s material finish and fixture selections.

  • The goal of the Construction Documents phase is to produce a complete and coordinated set of construction drawings and outline specifications so the project can receive a building permit and, ultimately, be constructed. As part of our design services for this phase we will work with your municipality’s plan review department to ensure that any questions or concerns that arise during their review are addressed.

  • During this phase, our team will work closely with your project’s General Contractor, trade partners, and other professionals throughout the construction process to oversee the implementation of the design and address any issues that may arise during construction.
